The objective of the course is to give a brief introduction about Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, Nucleic

Acids alkaloids, Glycosides, Carotenoids, Terpenoids, Flavonoids and Antibiotics. This also includes

detailed knowledge about chemistry and pharmacological activity of different drugs belonging to above

categories.

The objective of course is to ensure that students acquire essential knowledge of approaches to synthesize therapeutic agents, nomenclature, stereochemistry, mode of action, uses, structure activity relationship, physicochemical properties of therapeutic agents belonging to different classes.The student will have basic knowledge of the fundamental concepts of medicinal chemistry which will be helpful in drug synthesis, manufacturing and quality assurance in the pharmaceutical industries.

To make the student understand concepts of pharmacology, toxicology, uses, indications contraindications of different classes of drugs, along with software simulators. ,After completion of the course student would be able to understand and appreciate the pharmacology, adverse effects, indications, contraindications and uses of selected classes of drugs.

To make the students familiar with principles behind development of pharmaceutical dosage forms.At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand and appreciate the importance of different formulation and process variables and stability studies in the development of dosage forms.
